Secret Desires Review: Video + Sound, and how Hearts and tiers work

Updated September 2026. SecretDesires shipped a new video engine called Anima, which generates sound in the same pass as the picture, and the subscription tiers no longer work the way they used to. This review was rewritten against the current pricing page and the current product.

What’s New: the Anima Video Engine

Secret Desires retired its old video engine (Seraph) over the summer and replaced it with Anima, now live for everyone. The short version:

• You prompt the sound. This is the actual news. Anima generates audio in the same pass as the video, and you write what you want to hear into the prompt: dialogue, moans, music, rain on a window, a door closing. Your partner can speak on camera with lips matching the line you wrote. Honest caveat from the platform itself: that isn’t your partner’s cloned voice yet, it’s a voice generated for the scene.
• You direct the camera. Slow zoom, close-up, a pan across the room, a locked-off shot. You write the move into the prompt instead of hoping for a decent angle.
• Motion holds together better. Hair settles, fabric drapes, bodies carry weight. Less of the melting and morphing that gives AI video away.
• Images become video. Point Anima at anything in your gallery and it animates it, carrying your partner’s face and features through, so you go from a still you already like straight to a clip without losing the character you built.
• There’s a prompt guide built into the page. Click the ? next to the Prompt label on the Generate page and you get a copyable template, an example, and the rules that matter (keep the action connected, use one camera move, only describe the sounds that count). Use it. Anima rewards structure.

The specs: 720p on every generation, clips of 5 or 10 seconds with longer durations in progress, costing 50 hearts for 5 seconds and 100 hearts for 10. Pick Anima from the video engine dropdown on the Generate page. A second new video engine and a reworked chat page with new experimental chat engines are both due imminently.

Chat: Deep Settings, and a Lot of Pictures

Chat is still the core of the site, and it holds up. You roleplay or text, switch between the two, and the writing stays in character rather than collapsing into a generic assistant. Voice messages work in both directions: you can record yourself and get a spoken reply back.

What’s easy to miss is how much is adjustable per partner. Each one has its own editable panel covering About Me, Memory, Auto-Memory, Personality, Work, Hobbies, Relationship and Kink, plus a running Recent Pictures strip. Auto-Memory is the one worth knowing about: the partner keeps track of what happened without you having to write it down, which is the difference between a character that remembers last week and one that resets every session. If a conversation drifts somewhere you didn’t want, you edit the field rather than starting over.

The other thing that defines the experience is how consistently it leans on images. Pictures are not a side feature here, they turn up constantly through the conversation, and it’s a large part of why chats feel less like reading a transcript.

Images and Partners

The image generator takes a prompt or tags, so you can type what you want or click your way there, and it swings between realistic and anime styles. Results are detailed and the platform doesn’t apply much of a filter to what you ask for.

What matters for your budget is that you pick the engine, and they don’t cost the same:

Monet at 0.3 hearts is the workhorse, and it is genuinely cheap: even the entry subscription covers roughly 330 images a month with it. Vermeer at 4 hearts is the premium option, thirteen times the price of Monet, and it is the one that feeds Anima most cleanly. The sensible pattern is to explore on Monet and switch to Vermeer for the shots you intend to keep or animate.

The workflow itself is prompt plus parameters: you write the scene, then set it up through the options rather than hoping one sentence lands, and you can point it at a character you built from scratch so the same face carries through. Worth saying plainly, because older write-ups of this site claim otherwise: there is no face swap here. Nothing on the platform takes a photo you supply and puts a face on it. What you get is generation from your own prompt, parameters and characters.

The free tier is quite generous: you can chat for a while and generate images, NSFW included, which is unusual in a category where free normally means a locked gallery. What you don’t get is everything, and accuracy is the honest limit rather than the content filter. Pick a specific NSFW pose on the free tier and you may well get a different one back. Treat it as a way to see what the platform can do, not as a way to get the exact shot you had in mind.

On partners you get both routes. There’s a large premade roster of realistic and anime characters with their own personalities and backstories, and there’s a builder where you set looks, body, voice and personality yourself, anime or realistic. Both end up in the same settings panel described above, so a premade partner is a starting point rather than a fixed thing.

Pricing: Three Tiers, Split by Chat Engine and Hearts

This is the part that changed most, and older write-ups of this site (including our own previous version) have it wrong. The tiers are separated by which chat engines you can use and how many Hearts you get each month.

Quarterly saves 10% and yearly saves 20%. Video generation is included from Pro upward, so you don’t need a top tier to use Anima.

Do the Heart Maths Before You Pick

Hearts pay for both images and video, and the two sit at wildly different price points. An image runs from 0.3 to 4 hearts depending on engine. A video is 50 hearts for 5 seconds and 100 for 10. So the same 100 hearts buys you around 330 Monet images, or one single 10-second clip.

Per tier, that is:

• Pro (100 hearts): roughly 330 images on Monet, or 25 on Vermeer, or one 10-second video.
• Ultra (200 hearts): double that, or two 10-second videos.
• Max (300 hearts): triple, or three 10-second videos.

One thing worth spotting before you subscribe: the workflow the platform recommends, generating a Vermeer still and then animating it, costs 4 plus 100 hearts. That does not fit inside Pro’s monthly 100 even once. If image-to-video is your reason for being here, Ultra is the realistic floor.

Otherwise the split is clean. Images are cheap, video is the expensive part, so pick your tier on which chat engines you want and how much video you actually plan to make. If you’re here to chat and generate pictures, Pro at $6.39 a month on the yearly plan covers a lot of ground and is the obvious start.

Pros and Cons

➖ Hearts are the real limit on video. 100 a month on Pro is one 10-second clip, so budget by tier if video is the point.

Verdict

The audio is the reason to look at this again. Plenty of platforms will generate you a silent clip; writing the sound into the same prompt as the picture, and getting a line spoken on camera with the lips matching, is a different product. Add camera direction and image-to-video that keeps the partner you built, and Anima is a real step rather than a version bump.

The chat side was already strong and the per-partner settings are deeper than most people realise, with Auto-Memory doing the quiet work that makes a character feel continuous. Pair that with how much of the conversation is carried by images and it holds attention better than the text-only competition.

Two things to get right before you subscribe. Check the tier table above rather than any older write-up, because the plans are now split by chat engine and hearts, not by face swap. And count your hearts: images are cheap and video is not, so Pro at $6.39 a month on the yearly plan is the value pick if you’re here to chat and make pictures. Move up to Ultra if you actually want image-to-video, because that combination doesn’t fit in Pro’s allowance.
